The Cisco Security Services Module, the SSM 4GE expansion module is an optional I/O card suitable for the adaptive security alliance with 4 ports and has a plug in module form factor with the support for Ethernet 10Base T, Ethernet 100Base TX and Ethernet 1000Base T cabling type. The data link protocol can be through either Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, or Gigabit Ethernet. The 4GE SSM increases the total number ports available on the security appliance through addition of four more ports with Ethernet RJ-45 or SFP fiber optic connections as well, while tipping the scales at 8.50 kilograms. The 4GE Security Services Module (SSM) is an optional I/O card for the adaptive security appliance.
